Rocchi Results & New Striker Poll

By: cathal | May 5th, 2009

Thanks, as always, for your votes in last week’s poll. I asked you to let me know what you thought should be done regarding captain Balboa’s future and you voted as follows:

He’s finished, sell him no matter what5%
Sell him for 10 million or more57%
Don’t sell him, we need him38%

To conclude, it seems we have two options; either we let him depart for the right price or we keep him. As I’ve stated many times this season, he is not surviving the ageing process well. His legs look weary and his leadership qualities are questionable but he is a goalgetter and he can still pull us through games. Is that enough for an ambitious side like us? I’m not so sure. It’s a difficult situation, a situation I am sure has been considered and frankly, I am delighted the responsibility doesn’t lie on my shoulders.

On we go then and this week’s poll is simple. With a conclusion of the Zarate deal looking imminent and rumours of a Pandev departure reaching the boil, I am asking you a simple question; who would you keep if you could only keep one of them? Bear in mind, Maurito will probably cost us 20 million and Goran could be sold at a similar price. Vote here. Forza Lazio!

First Lazio should win the coppa Italia and then we can discuss who is for sell or not,Pandev is younger then Rochhi don’t forget that.

The poll is between Zarate and Pandev.

Secondly, I can’t wait to the Coppa final. Zarate will be resolved either way by then and Pandev is so heavily linked with a move away, now is the time to put a poll to the people.

Why the pool is between Zarate and Pandev when Rochhi this season is not the same striker like in the past four seasons and he is older then the other two.

your IP address says Jimmy is using the same computer as Pete…so if you’re not the same person, you at least use the same computer.

I could have banned the address right now but I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt and keep this discussion about the poll.

    Hope you understand.

I would keep Rocchi at all costs for 2 reasons, a) I think with a full pre-season under his belt, we’ll see him back to his best (or very close to it) and b) we have no bandiere as it is and he is the closest thing to it.

I wouldn’t be so quick to question his leadership either, I think he’s been a very good influence on Zarate over the course of the season.

and I wouldn’t be so sure that the Zarate issue will be resolved by the Coppa final either, although I can’t see what leg al-sadd have to stand on…..its just a matter of whether Lotito can pay the 20m up front.

hey.. i was just reading and i read that SIVIGLIA is playing as right back (as seen in the inter game) cause delio wants him to practice covering cassano for the coppa final..
dont you guys think this is a little disconcerning? i’m really nervous about this decision and im really not sure why he would make such a drastic change for such an important game.. i am a firm believer that players should be kept at one posision where they can grow in comfort and develop.. i honestly think cassano will run circles around siviglia and he won’t have the pace/energy to run along the flanks and support the attack..
think this is a big mstake by delio…. what do u guys think?

My vote goes to Pandev. Obviosly the kid would be a fantastic acquisition for the team but not at Pandev’s expense. If we can keep both than i think Rochi will be the third option for the attack and so we’ll better sell him and cover some of our loses. The thing is that not the attack is the problem rather the defence is the weakest side of the squad. Ideal would be to keep Pandev Rochi,Zarate and get some decent centre-backs also.

Rocchi can stay as a third striker in a season with Eruopean play BUT he has to learn to age gracefully and that means hje can’t start ahead of Pandev and Zarate (for the most part). If he insists on sulking everytime he doesn’t play, well, thanks but see ya Rocchigol.

Yeah, rocchi’s attitude has disappointed me this season and I would like to think that he would accept a bench role while playing at a high level.

@ Sandro: the Siviglia at right back is an interesting one but there is a reason for this. Remember, Matuzalem is suspended which probably means Lichtsteiner will have to be moved to right midfield and if Foggia doesn’t overcome this injury, Siviglia at right back will be a necessity. His experience is vital as much as I think he’s getting too old to be a starter these days.

Is there anything serious about the rumours linking us to Nilmar and Materazzi?Nilmar is a fantastic striker,he is only 23 or 24 years old and he would be and excellent signing, but i would hate to see Materazzi in Lazio…

First of all, Materazzi is laziale, his father coached us 20 years ago and it’s only natural he gets linked to us every once in a while. Not sure how true the rumour is though.

Nilmar? Difficult to say how authentic this one is, the media are speculating about strikers because it’s not certain that Zarate, Pandev or Rocchi will stay. So whether it’s anything more than a rumour remains to be seen.

I voted for Zarate, as Pandev is a good finisher, but Zarate can make a chance out of nothing. Also, Pandev gets bollixed halfway through the season and we never get the best out of him from there-on. I am so ridiculously jittery about Siviglia marking Cassano, as I dont believe he can cope with him. Also, we should definitely sell Rocchi as he is getting old and losing his goalscoring ability of old. We should buy a young striker or draft either Mendicino or Kozak into our first team. Sandro I definitely agree with you being nervous about Siviglia. FORZA LAZIO!!!!

Forget Nilmar, cause Al-Sadd have set SI, they will sell Zarate to us.

All Lotito has to do is pay the lump sum of 21 million euro.
