Surprised By Zarate
By: cathal | March 12th, 2009Thanks for your votes in last week’s poll and apologies for the lack of posts in recent days. I had pre-holiday pressure but with ten free days ahead, I have plenty of time to devote my attention to the blog. Last week I asked you to vote on your surprise of the season and the results were as follows:
Zarate – 37%
Muslera – 19%
Lichtsteiner – 15%
Foggia – 14%
Diakite – 10%
Matuzalem – 3%
Brocchi – 1%
Meghni – 1%

So Maurito prevails. I’m actually slightly surprised that Muslera wasn’t closer to the victory but I guess many people out there were thinking long-term and as I said “season” they would be right to do so. I voted for Nestor myself (yes, I do vote each week) but mainly because I had been fortunate enough to see Zarate’s potential and knew what he was capable of. After last season, there’s no way I could predict Muslera’s recent performances.

Nestor is featured once again in this week’s poll. I didn’t have to think of a topic, I think the debate speaks for itself so let’s put it to the vote; who should be Lazio’s No.1 goalkeeper. I don’t particularly want you to be dwelling on all the ins and outs and spending the next three days contemplating your decision. Quite simply, if Lazio could only have one goalkeeper at present, who would you select. The poll, as ever, runs to Sunday and you can cast your vote here.

Haha, speaking of the Lazio keeper debate anyone realize Nonno Ballotta is playing as a forward? (at least according to wikipedia)

There have been many votes cast in the poll so far but if you are yet to make your say count then you should do so pronto. It is too close to call at the moment and your vote could decide the winner.
As for Ballotta, yeah, that was one of the strangest moves I have encountered in the history of football but kudos to him. More interestingly, does anybody know how he’s doing for that club?
