The Blame Game

By: cathal | April 6th, 2009

Thank you for your participation in last week’s poll. I asked you if you would like to see Carrizo depart the club in light of his recent statements and you voted as follows:

Yes - 23%
No57%
Undecided20%

This is the debate that has refused to go away, pretty much since Peruzzi retired. Nevertheless, I am surprised at the result. Don’t forget, this poll was conducted long before Muslera’s mishap yesterday and at a time when JP’s popularity was at its lowest and still many of you wish for him to remain. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops over the coming weeks.

On to this week’s poll and I am deliberately avoiding a Derby related poll because it would most definitely be spoiled. However, there is a question that has intrigued me for some time and although I’ve touched on it, I’ve never made a poll about it so here it goes; who do you attribute the majority of the blame to for this season’s failures? Is it the president and his lack of spending, the coach and his lack of motivation or the players and their lack of passion? Vote here and as always, you have a week to vote. Forza Lazio!

I should mention briefly about the earthquake that occurred in the city of L’Aquila yesterday. I’m sure I speak on behalf of all Lazio fans when I say my thoughts are with those affected by the tragedy. A disaster like this puts everything into perspective and I hope the region recovers from this loss and devastation as quickly as possible.

Spoke to my family, said they felt the earth shaking quite hard. Lucky they aren’t from L’aquila….
RIP to all victims and those who’ve lost their homes.

As for Carrizo, I’m shocked that people still give him chances. Muslera didn’t have this sort of patience last season and his attitude has been excellent.

Also the team is in ritiro at Norcia, near Perugia, so dont expect much news on the team this week. Full focus on the Derby.

I voted “the team” is to blame on this weeks poll however I do believe that all 3 parties listed on the poll are ALL responsible not just the team.

I would say all the team is at fault besides the following players; Foggia, Rocchi, Zarate, Muslera, Matuzalem, Lichti, De Silvestri, and Pandev. These are the players that I feel contribute 110% when ever they are wearing the Lazio colours…. would be interested in knowing if you all agree / feel the same??

agree with Franco, I voted the team but wouldnt hold the entire side responsible.

Although Delio is at fault too.

Can’t see how this one is Lotito’s fault. He brought in players for all positions and gave the coach another chance.

its gotta be a mix of delio rossi and some of the team. luckily we are still in the top half but if we don’t start getting some results we will have another highly disappointing season. i think rossi must go as soon as the season is over. mazzari would be an improvement on the team and we could make europe through the league next season. i dont think lotito can take much blame. he spent the money on some excellent players now we will see if this continues over the summer

i know i said to drop the MACHENA issue, but i just found out that, supposedly, UTD got him to join them because they bribed his parents with jobs to prise him away from LAZIO. i feel like it is all ROSSIs fault as he only started FOGGIA permanently halfway through the season and he signed nobody in January. FORZA LAZIO!!!!! oh, and FORZA PORTO, VILLAREAL and CHELSEA.

Ya I got some family in Pescara saying they felt the earthquake too, pretty scary stuff, I hope everyone recovers well… This week I would have chose both Rossi’s tactics and discipline and Lotito’s lack of renewing contracts as the reason that team is doing so bad for the poll, I know that there are a lot of people who have to be involved in buying players but why can’t he renew contracts? And why does it say below that I’m from U.S.A.? I’m from Toronto, Canada.

Never mind that “posted from” thing. On my laptop, everyone is from Ireland apparently.

@ Stef: Macheda’s parents were offered jobs by united to lure Macheda to England. His family chose what they believed to be a better life for the family. At the end of the day, people move abroad all the time for the opportunity of a better life. Losing Macheda is like losing a friend because he or she has moved schools. However, that doesn’t get away from the fact that the rules are ridiculous.

I know is unrealistic to vote on particular party in the poll but I want to know who people hold responsible. Everyone was blaming Rossi but suddenly it seems the players are getting the blame and then you have the bunch who consistently criticise Lotito so the results could be interesting.

I think the failure lies mainly on your colors, club, lack of history, shit supporters, terrible coaching, lack of talent, love of fascism, Paolo Di Canio, calciopoli, and the culture of sucktitude that runs through the veins of all those associated with lazyo…errr scusi, la merda.

    The battle commences.

“I think the failure lies mainly on your colors, club, lack of history, shit supporters, terrible coaching, lack of talent…”

You should really think about your own team before beginning a rant like this.
