The Cribari Situation

By: cathal | March 16th, 2009

Thanks for your votes in last week’s poll. I know it was a quick one but the result was conclusive. I asked who you would like to see as our number one goalkeeper. Here is how you voted:

Fernando Nestor Muslera56%
Juan Pablo Carrizo44%

The margin of victory was close in the end but I have been tracking the poll all week and the Uruguayan was always one step ahead of the Argentine. This is the result I expected and I have to say, I agree with the results; right now, Fernando must be our number one. He has yet to put a foot out of line since he was thrown into the side.

This week’s poll is all about one man; Emilson Cribari. Yesterday evening, the Brazilian declared his wish to leave Rome at the end of the season. However, would you like to see him depart or are you hoping for a change of heart (excuse the rhyme)? To aid your selection, I will provide you with all the information I can about the scenario and then I’ll let your votes do the talking. Ok, so here’s what I know:

- Cribari spoke of his dissatisfaction at being whistled off the pitch and his unhappiness at Rossi’s decision to substitute him despite his good physical shape.
- He stated his desire to speak to the president and has offered to go unpaid for the remainder of the season.
- It was a decision he claimed to have thought about for a while and apparently he was in tears during the interview.
- Emilson has been linked with a move away on many an occasion despite making known his dream to captain Lazio and retire at the club.
- His brother has said that Rossi has made an example of him by substituting him for another defender when losing 2-0 yesterday. He said you can’t ruin the dignity of a player who gives his all and the pitch and long forgotten was the night he risked his health to help Lazio qualify for the Champions League.

As far as I can see, Emilson is fed up of being made the fallguy, the scapegoat for the fans and for our coach. How do you feel about it all? Is it a case of good riddance to bad rubbish or are we losing another one of our fighters? Cast your votes here. Forza Lazio!

i dont want to see him go. he adds to our team alot and he didnt deserve to be blamed for that horrific proformance. If only Rossi had subbed Siviglia off instead and then he would want to go haha. We desperately need good cb in teh summer transfer window
