Zero To Hero
By: cathal | April 13th, 2009It’s remarkable that one game can change the voice of a nation. Last week, we were all moping about, mulling over our poor form and now we’re on top of the world and looking forward. It almost seems irrelevant at present but last week, I asked you to give your opinion on who you thought was most at fault for this season’s failures. You voted as follows:
Claudio Lotito – 12%
Delio Rossi – 52%
The Squad – 36%

It was a close enough result. I think it’s fair to say the majority of us are refusing to blame the president for the mistakes this season which leads me to believe there is a general approval of his signings. This begs the question; is it the old bunch of players who are underperforming or is it a lack of motivation from Rossi? The derby illustrated our ability to gear ourselves up for these big ties so where does all the inconsistency arise from? I don’t know but it seems we, as fans, are leaning towards Delio as the problem. It will be interesting to see if Lotito thinks along the same lines come the end of the season.

It’s time to lay the derby to rest and move forward but before we do, I am asking you to vote for your derby hero. Who do you feel should go down in history as being the main protagonist behind “the 4-2 derby?” Vote here and the results will be revealed in a week’s time. Thank you for you participation and Forza Lazio!

How about we get a new coach in and try to get mihailovic involved too (assistant manager perhaps)?
but then again we were brutal at the start of the season and almost in the coppa final

That’s a tough poll to answer as I could pick at least 5-6 players that worth a mention however I did end up choosing Foggia as his non stop running, dribbling, tackling and crosses did the damage IMO, although he did not get the credit he deserved. my second choice was Lichti – Hard one to pick overall though!

I chosed Kolarov. His goal wasn`t so tough to score, cause he dribled only two players, but he ran more then 70 metters and it looked really spectacular,a real derby goal.

And also,i read that we are linked with Bizzari.I don`t think that`s a smart move,we are settling with Muslera…

i voted for KOLOROV. he had a great game defensively and attacking he was quite decent. he scored a great goal (assisted by MUSLERA, of course) and killed off the game. i was also thinking of LICHTI and MUSLERA as they both had pretty decent games.

it has to be zarate his goal was spectacular and it will go down in history as well because it was 2-0 in the 4th minute

you missed tare in the poll

The poll is close, not much to choose at the top. Strictly speaking, Tare will be remembered for what he did off the field, in a sense. I still have an inclination that Rossi’s sprint after our fourth was an attempt to steal Igli’s spotlight.
I’ll round up the Bizzarri/Carrizo rumour tomorrow as well as the various suspension and any other news that emerges. I half expect a few new rumours tomorrow now that the derby dust has finally settled.

That game may have saved Delio Rossi’s job…what do Laziali think about him?

he has to go, one derby does not a season make. Ciao delio, grazie i tutto.

If we qualify for the UEFA Cup, Delio must stay. If we come 7th and lose in the Coppa, then it’s a tough decision. However, if we get eliminated from the Coppa and stay 8th/9th, he should go.
The goal for this season was to scrape into the UEFA Cup. Having seen the derby and watching how much it meant to Delio, I want him to succeed, I want him here for life bringing this team to the top. Whether he’s capable of that or not, who knows.
Rossi is a bold manager, a tough decision maker and he is certainly Serie A standard. He will improve as a coach too and he may well be ideal for us but results count, we need results and he has to deliver.

have to respectfully disagree with you on this one Cathal – I think it’s time for a fresh start. Rossi is a good manager, I agree, but I think we’ve gone past his expiration date.

That’s the other side of the coin bianco, Rossi is not exactly a “one club manager” and if his relationship with us is becoming stale, then I guess he has to go. However, it’s difficult for us as fans to know if that’s the situation.
