Defend Yourselves
By: cathal | September 30th, 2009Thanks for all your votes in the poll I ran on Pandev and Ledesma just over a fortnight ago. I am sure you noticed that there was no poll last week and that I have yet to publish the results so I will set about rectifying that now. I asked you if you thought Goran and Cristian should be integrated back into the squad and after some rather barmy voting patterns, here is a breakdown of your opinions:
79% of you would like to see Ledesma back in the side.
63% of you would like to see Goran feature in our colours again.
8% of you don’t want to see either of them play for us again.
8% of you believe we can wait to January before making a decision.

I am a bit of a freak with these polls, I watch them closely and there is no doubt in my mind that our boring draw away to Catania changed many an opinion. Until then, a rather significant majority of fans did not want to see the Macedonian back but that all changed within 24 hours. I think the vast majority of us now want to see the both of them back but this is not an ideal world and the proof is in the president. I can’t see these guys ever playing in our colours again and I truly believe it is about time that we faced up to that.

This week, I want you to pick our backline. I have never conducted a poll on this scale before and if it doesn’t work, please notify me and I will edit it but the premise of this poll is that you vote every player you want to see in your defense. If you would like a three man defense, select three players whereas, if you are a traditionalist and prefer your backline of four, make sure to select four names. This will not be the most accurate poll in the world as many of our backline can play in other positions but hopefully it will give some indication as to what we think our best defense is as a collective. Please see the poll below and vote and the results will be published next week.
If Your Name Was Davide Ballardini, Who Would You Pick To Play At The Back?(polls)
I plan to do a preview before the game tomorrow and possibly a round-up shortly afterwards, however, the site is due to receive a small upgrade. This shouldn’t affect your ability to read the blog but it may affect my ability to update it for a short period of time. Thus, I am warning you all in advance that I might not get a preview up but I will do the very best that I can. Forza Lazio!

I’m having a few problems with this post. Firstly, the poll is not doing what I am telling it to do and secondly, the comments was turned off for some reason.
I’ve changed the settings on the poll but if it doesn’t start functioning the way I want to, I’ll change the structure of it tomorrow and make sure that you can vote the way I’d like us to be able to.

And Faraoni is unfortunately out for 6 months with ligament damage.

Hey guys. I picked Kolarov, Lichti, Radu and Faraoni. The first 3 are all quality players, and I think Faraoni deserves a go for 2 reasons: 1. Our other central defenders can’t defend and 2. He will be out to deserve he deserves a starting place. FORZA LAZIO!!!!

Forza Lazio! It really sucks that Faraoni got hurt like that. He would have played today. In any case Perpetuini played alright.

very professional performance in a difficult away tie. i was particularly impressed with meghni, he has to be one of our more skilful players and is exciting when playing a more attacking role. perpetuini was also pleasing, i think he could be included in the backline poll, just an idea..

Perpetuini is a centre-midfielder and I never in a million years expected to see a youth player play out of position in our already frail backline last night but it was a pleasant surprise to see him have a decent game. He could be an excellent utility player.
I know the blog is all over the place at the minute but once I get to grips with my new interface, I should have a multitude of posts out there. Once again, apologies about the preview but as I indicated earlier, it was physically impossible to post one as the system was being upgraded.
Review on the way…

Thanks for your comments Ljuben.
No matter what our views are, we are all S.S. Lazio fans here and that’s what counts. We care about our club and whatever our views, Pandev needs to be discussed.
My opinion is clear and so are the many varying opinions of the different people who read and comment on these posts. Opinions can’t be right or wrong; they are merely points of views and it doesn’t matter what happens with Pandev, his legacy will stand. I think we all appreciate and understand that.
