Bari – Lazio

By: cathal | October 25th, 2009

After the heartstopping, last-gasp victory in Rome on Thursday evening, Lazio will have to leave the euphoria behind and pick themselves up again this weekend for the tough trip to Bari. Both sides have been stuttering their way to draws in recent games and a certain Ace Ventura would be willing to settle for another today but with the confidence high in our camp, a certain man with tinted spectacles might be thinking otherwise. This should be a corker.

bari

I made a rather ambitious prediction to a few friends that Parma would easily make the Top 10 this season with Bari hovering there or thereabouts. Not many took me seriously but we know the damage the former did to us so I really see this game as a case of stopping the latter from mustering up something similar. I know I could sound a bit pessimistic now but under different circumstances, I’d shake hands on getting a point from this game. I don’t see the opposition as relegation fodder and I don’t fancy trying to outplay them in that stadium but since we are all on a bit of a high from midweek, let’s give it a bash.

robbo

There has been much speculation about a possible 3-4-3 which looks more like a 5-3-2 and I don’t think it’s a question of if Ballardini switches to it as when. My hunch is that it will be today and with Siviglia missing, the back three automatically becomes Radu, Cribari and Diakite’. Kolarov and Lichtsteiner will provide the width. I think our coach has thought ahead when it comes to the midfield. Baronio is suspended and Mauri and Brocchi were used sparingly against Villarreal so that leads me to believe they will feature today with the suspended-in-Europe, Matuzalem dividing the two in the middle. Zarate will start in attack and although Lalaziosiamonoi have plumped for Rocchi, I am half-thinking Cruz may get the nod. We will have to see on that one. Anyway, here is what I assume we will see:

Lazio (3-5-2): Muslera, Radu, Cribari, Diakite’, Kolarov, Lichtsteiner, Mauri, Matuzalem, Brocchi, Zarate, Rocchi.

ballaronio

As for Bari, I think they have the nucleus of an excellent side. Almiron is beginning to return to his former self and Kutuzov is an ever-present threat nowadays. Luckily for us, Rivas is out of this tie and that should minimise their potency in attack. As for defence, I think they are solid enough there but there are weaknesses we can exploit. In other words, they can give us serious problems if we fail to get our game right but as long as we concentrate on ourselves rather than the opposition, I’m optimistic that we can add a much needed three points to our tally. Forza Lazio!

Diakite has amazing potential but as of now he isn’t the type of defender that should be played in a three-man defense because of how he presses so many attackers so often. good job by Radu though in my opinion.

I know it’s little consolation Mark but fatigue would have played a part. Whilst you lot were sweating it out against Villareal the Baresi probarbly had their feet up already thinking about today’s game

God, this is why I’m not enjoying Lazio at the moment, when are we going to catch a break? I’m almost glad my streams are ruining the games for me.

If you’re interested AS Merda were rubbish on Thursday, and I was waiting for De Rossi to come to my corner so I could shout “A Roma c’e solo la Lazio” to him but only Taddei came near me and I wasn’t going to lose my dignity by even acknowledging that ugly idiot’s existence.
I heartily joined in the choruses of “Who are ya?” and “Wankers, Wankers, Wankers” to the Merda supporters.

So, any truth in Ledesma maybe coming back there Cathal? I can’t decide if I want him but boy do we need him. I’m just now scare that it might unsettle things. This season is really not going to plan.

    Zarate for Italy?

    E’ perche no?

    Fanno Sciffo!!!!

our team is a joke. I dont care about excuses of fatigue. We were playing Bari for crying out loud. Should not have frozen out Stendardo, Pandev, Ledesma and sold Rozevhal without a replacement already in hand, if we expected to play on two fronts (and soon to start in the Coppa Italia). We are seriously flowdering near relegation zone when in fact we have the nucleus to be in the top six!!

I am getting very tired of all the drama around our team. We have becomea provincial squad that devleops some talent and quickly sells them for a profit. After Deselvestre and Pandev watch Muslera, Kolarov, Foggia all leave us in the next 12-18 months.

Save this post. With this administration, it will happen.

We can not expect great performances from squad. If look at how things are going you can see that this is the level of the curent squad. We loose some good players from last year when we finished 10th. We are capable of good games but we are not consistent because we lack the depth of the squad. We loose brochi for 3 weeks and we can’t win a game, come on it’s brochi not gerard.

Bari are anything but a Serie B side but that’s not the point.

Serious fan protests now. Let’s see what action Lotito will take.

I can’t post at the minute as my internet connection is dead. I’ll try and find a way to post (borrowing a connection right now) tomorrow.

Stef, get your head out of your ass, Bari are far from a Serie B squad. I understand your frustration, but Lazio losing to Bari should not be a shock to anyone who follows Calcio.

The way Bari manhandled Lazio in every aspect of the game….well thats another story.

    FORZA GALLETTI!!!

i dont think that we should be losing to bari no matter if there serie b quality or midtable serie a quality. i know theyve done well against other teams who were expected to beat them like inter but there still only promoted and we should be able to beat them. We played like shit and i’m sick of seeing us not picking up points, its a disgrace to have to watch
