Child’s play…
By: salvatore | September 24th, 2008No other way to describe the Biancoceleste’s absolutely dominant performance against Fiorentina today. It was just men versus boys from the word go, and if anyone had any doubts about the quality of this team after the Milan misstep, you can forget it. We’re back bitches.
Seriously, for those that didn’t see it, the 3-0 scoreline was, if anything, very flattering to the Viola, as the Aquile put together one of the best performances I’ve seen in years. They were fast, creative, aggressive and seemingly everywhere today. With some better finishing (and worse keeping by Frey), this could have been a much more embarrassing night for Prandelli’s bunch.
As always, success starts at the back, and Delio’s decision to go with Lichsteiner, Siviglia (who scored a goal), Cribari and Radu has to be applauded, as all four had solid games, with the Romanian in particular looking very confident on the ball moving forward. Of course, the whole team played so strongly, that I can barely remember if the Viola even had any chances to score. Honestly, I’m not sure. Did they?
Up front, it was the Foggia - Zarate - Pandev show, with the three making the Tuscan’s defense look like the Washington Generals. For my money, Goran was the strongest of the trident, and probably the man of the match, but either of these three could get the honor. Hell, the Zarate Kid probably played his best game so far, but just couldn’t put it in the back of the net.
I can’t say this enough, but he’s incredible. 20 years old, fast, hard-working, ridiculously talented, and a constant danger whenever the ball is on his feet. The fact that he can still improve is just mind boggling.
Foggia meanwhile was a live wire of manic brilliance, creating panic almost every time he touched the ball. Playing with Goran and Mauro (and eventually Balboa), he’s going to be absolutely tremendous. Hopefully, Delio will give him some more playing time. He deserves it.

The highlights:
Forza Lazio.

I had my doubts / fears after last seasons performance, that we would have trouble find the form that we initially had in the 1st 2 games of this season after what happened at Milan but after seeing this display - Those fears, I can happily say are burried.
What a fantastic B’Day present!! Forza Lazio!!
…And to top it off, another loss for Rioma!!! Could it be any sweeter!??!!

How unnecessary was Mauri’s overhead kick for the first goal?! LOL!
Nice performance and I’m glad to see that Lazio rebounded from Sunday so well.

Congrats on the win…nice to see the team rebound from that loss to Milan (where the scoreline admittedly flattered us). And yes, you had at least 3 more goals in this game but Frey is easily the second best keeper in Serie A.

Happy Birthday Franco, what a present!
I think Mauri was doing his impression of Hamsik:

Just a fantastic game. Simple as that. Need to push on now from this now though because the schedule ahead demands wins.

If we could just continue like this…Win most of the games at home and improve the away record.Roma is not so strong this season and i think we could be 4th at the end of the season(Inter,Milan,Juve).I really felt bad for Zarate not scoring, even more when Milito scored the second
I just hope he`ll stay in Lazio for many years.PS: Can anybody tell me how much Lazio must pay for him to get him for next season?
