The Net Bulges In Bulgaria

By: cathal | October 2nd, 2009

Lazio recorded a fairly comprehensive 4-0 victory over Levski Sofia last night in a game that many of us expected to be tricky following our humiliation at home at the hands of Red Bull Salzburg. There were many cobwebs that needed to be eradicated and a few demons that needed to be exorcised and we did it with style, with grace and with honour. Sure, the opposition were not at the races but let’s not take anything away from our boys; the result may be flattering but we did what we had to do and we did it with ease.

Team (01-10-09) Lazialita

Both sides were in crisis prior to this game but we can take encouragement in the fact that we showed a lot of bottle and character while Levski bottled it and fizzed off somewhere. We expect a lot from our boys but I don’t think many, if any of us expected this game to result in such a comprehensive win. This should get our confidence back and although it may be premature to say that we have turned a corner, I think we can actually travel to Florence this weekend with at least some hope of snatching all three points. A week ago, this was unimaginable for most of us.

Team 2 (01-10-09) Lazialita

There was much to be positive about. Bizzarri put in the kind of performance I expect of him while makeshift left-back, Perpetuini did a stellar job. Radu looked fine in the centre once again, Lichtsteiner found some energy somewhere, Meghni showed some potential, we proved it to ourselves that we can live with or without Baronio and that attacking threesome of Foggia, Zarate and Rocchi showed the world what they’re all about. Encouraging signs but for now, they are just signs. The season is not lost but we need to build on this if we want to make a full recovery. Forza Lazio!
