Carrizo’s gambete
By: salvatore | September 29th, 2008
I think it’s pretty common for keepers to secretly wish they were strikers, but I still don’t know what to make of Juan Pablo Carrizo’s habit of playing with the ball and trying to dribble around pressuring forwards. Is he just really confident and cocky? Or completely insane? So far, I can’t tell (because he’s so freakishly calm that I’m worried he might be high), but it’s worth noting that the Argentinian himself has said in the past, “a good keeper has to be crazy.”
That’s all fine and well (and I’ll admit that I enjoyed watching him toy with Torino on a 3-0 scoreline), but is he flirting with disaster? You be the judge.
The first gambeta against Fiorentina:
The second against Torino:
And a video of his various gambete in Argentina:
It should be an interesting year between the posts.

when i saw this video clips that salvatore selected i ashamed about carrizo action
im agree about dangerous act from goalkeepers in football worlds because this cause to increase thrill in game_like colombianan (Rene higuitta) denmark (Piter scmickel) or paraguy (jose luis chilavert) goalkeepers in past and Rojerio in now
but i disagree with carrizos act in torino game because i believe carrizos act was scorn ( look at the score torino 0 _ LAZIO 3 ) this score cause carrizo buffoon the torino player
i hope carrizo increase her aplomb and increase the LAZIOs thrill

Carrizo has made errors in the past:

Clearly this is not a dribble related incident but he is trying to control the ball in an unusual way and it could have been a goal. Also key is the scoreline; 2-2 with 5 minutes left. Therefore it is no excuse that it was 3-0 to Lazio when Carrizo went on his dribble rampage.
This is also something that will give him a bad reputation. I don’t know if you guys have watched this before but look at this:

As beautiful as it is to watch and as useful as it is to kill time and put on a show, look how the opposition reacted. I wouldn’t want JP to face the same fate. It was well documented that Ferguson told Nani never to do that again in a game because it was disrespectful.

i think it is quite funny when he does it, sometimes. like when he did it against fiorentina but against torino he just dug a hole and kept digging and his only way out was to boot the ball out the wing. I dont think he should be doing it that often if at all but it can be entertaining and funny.

Hi Filardi, yes, this is just something JP will always do and we Lazio fans have to put up with it.
Always nice to see comments from River fans. We owe that club a lot.
