Clarification By Halves
By: cathal | September 16th, 2009The agent of Cristian Ledesma has spoken yet again and as much as I hate discussing this issue, it refuses to die down. There are two sides to every story but the situation from the perspective of the Argentine’s representative is not ideal.

According to D’Ippolito, they are now thinking about the next step. Apparently, there was a promise made and a decision to stay based on an agreement that the club would help Cristian in restoring his public image. We all know this has been a problem for the guy; his agent kept speculating and speculating and this is where he ends up and while many recognise his abilities on the field, many are offended by certain threats from his agent. However, it seems Lotito didn’t fulfil his end of the bargain. As a result, Cristian remains in Rome and firmly on the sidelines.

There was a contract on the table for him to sign and an agreement that he would be sold if an offer of 15million euro was made. I’ve heard this news before and I can only assume that a buyout clause of this value was written into the contract. The interesting part is that the deal was seemingly withdrawn when Cristian was ready to sign. This doesn’t make much sense to me and if any of you have any theories, please enlighten me. Maybe it was a case of Claudio trying to be the good guy? Perhaps but wouldn’t he have boasted more about this? That is what confuses me. Either way, the situation appears no closer to being resolved and there are now hints that the players don’t want them back in the squad. In a sense, I guess that is understandable.

Ledesma won’t feature for us tomorrow night and it is increasingly likely that he never will again but you can still let me know what you would do in the poll and I’ll be back again with a Europa League preview tomorrow. Forza Lazio!
