Delio Departs/Juve Summary

By: cathal | June 3rd, 2009

Delio has left.

I have been awaiting this news for quite a while, in fact, I expected it to come directly after the Juventus game but such is the nature of the Lazio beast, it is no surprise that the media are the first to know; bizarrely, even before Lotito.

It is believed a meeting between president and coach was pencilled in and the meeting never took place. Hence, Delio has announced his departure and the hunt for a new manager begins. Yes, Claudio has shown a lack of respect by going back on his word as he has done many times in the past but for Rossi to ‘resign’ in a manner like this is not exactly admirable either. It is a sad demise in what has been, on the whole, a successful era. Nevertheless, there is no time to dwell on past achievements, we are entering a new age and there is much to be done this summer. Zenga is undoubtedly the frontrunner for the job and the sooner we get a new man in, the better. As for Delio, Palermo is a likely destination and no matter where he goes, I wish him the best of luck.

Last weekend’s game was hardly memorable and one we should quickly forget. Our season virtually ended when we secured the Coppa Italia and since then, there has been little to shout about. The season may have ended but time never stops and for the next two months, you can look forward to a daily post of all the latest news in and around Lazio. I also intend to spend a significant amount of my free time doing a bit of research and looking at ways of improving the blog. In the days ahead, I will round up the season and begin a Player of the Season poll. For now, I will leave you with highlights from the Juventus game and also a few videos that will hopefully make you look fondly upon the Rossi era. Forza Lazio!

I want to ask you about the relevance of lalaziosiamonoi.it? I don’t speak Italian, but I manage to understand bits and pieces and I must say there are some positive rumors….

Phhhheeeww!! Close call! Zenga will not be the new coach of Lazio as he has just agreed terms with Palermo and signed a 3 year deal with them. Further more, Rossi is now saying that he has not resigned with Lazio and that he is still going to meet with Lotito to discuss an extension!

    Forza Lazio!!!

Mazzarri, Ballardini, Ranieri or someone from outside the box will now be our coach. Zenga is with Palermo, it’s confirmed.

Lalaziosiamonoi? Nothing wrong with it Bato, I just find that it rarely has anything new and fresh that can’t be ound elsewhere on bigger sites. I also find a lot of what they report turns out to be complete rubbish. Ok, many people say the same about goal.com and sites like those but at least I can check back to the original source and make sure it’s not mistranslated.

What I’m trying to say is, I am doing my best to give you all the reliable information if I can.

Thank you for your answer Cathal…I keep reading rumors linking us with Angeleri guy??? I mean, we don’t need right back? But I also read on transfermarkt.de that he is capable of playing as a right midfielder or a winger which would be useful fo us…
