Europa League/North Curve
By: cathal | August 7th, 2009A preview of tomorrow’s Supercoppa Italia will be posted later today but in the meantime, there are other, more immediate issues to contend with. The Europa League draw is scheduled to take place at 13:30 CET, which is just minutes away. The structure of the draw is quite complex but put simply, we will face one of the following sides:
Trabzonspor
MSK Zilina
IF Elfsborg
BNE Yehuda Tel-Aviv
FC Baku

Trabzonspor are the obvious danger side, a very strong side in a relatively strong league and the others are no mugs either. Zilina are often in the mix for the Champions League group stages and won’t go down easily. Elfsborg breezed through their tie last night, much to my surprise. BNEI are an Israeli side and they are more than capable of a big performace and while Baku may play in Azerbaijian, they have also given sides scares in the past. It’s a tricky selection of teams but not sides we should fear. Check back later to see who we get.
On another note, an old friend of ours here at the blog, Michael di Mascio has just launched his “North Curve” website. It is in the early stages of development but if you are unfamiliar with his work, you can check his YouTube channel, his Facebook group or you can follow me and listen to his radio show which will be broadcast at 11:35 EST and repeated at the later time of 5:35 EST. Today’s show will focus on a certain big match in China tomorrow so I encourage you all to tune in. It will only take 25 minutes of time so you can listen while having your breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper depending on where you are in the world.

We’ve been promised a shout out which is worth a listen in itself but if you throw down a question or query in the comments box, I am sure Michael will do his utmost to address it on air. The Europa League draw is imminent. Forza Lazio!

I must check that robert. It is supposed to be the week of the 20th and 27th of August but because Roma play as well, dates could be moved around. I’ll update you as soon as I know.

Thanks for the quick response Cathal and Franco re the lady pics.
I know it may be taking away a (no doubt pleasant)luxury that can be enjoyed by many a visitor to drop the pics. But this is a Lazio and football website and there are plenty of other pages one click away with ladies galore.
I appreciate your apology, but what I really hope for is the old, thorough, football intensive, blog with excellent Lazio coverage that is my number 1 site for English news WITHOUT distracting pictures of voluptuous women.
Thanks again Gents,
Omar.Posted from

Dont mind him Franco, keep them pics coming!!! We got Elfsborg. August 20(Olimpico) and August 27(Boras Arena). I’ve heard of 2 players, Anders Svensson (Southampton 2001-2005, Sweden 1999-) and Teddy Lucic (Bologna 1998-2000, Leeds United 2002-2003, Sweden 1994-2006). I can see this being a difficult enough tie, but we should easily proceed. FORZA LAZIO!!!!

Elfsborg disposed of Braga fairly easy which says a lot about their credentials. Their experience stands them in good stead and while I agree we should progress, it will not be a stroll in the park.
