Gabriele Uno Di Noi!

By: cathal | July 14th, 2009

Many, if not most will argue that politics and soccer should never mix but unfortunately, when a real life travesty occurs while a few guys are heading to a game, it’s an inevitability. None of us will forget the 11th November 2007 and neither we should; Gabbo was one of us and now he’s gone. Today, the accused was sentenced to six years in jail on the first trial and while I don’t want to talk about the case, I do want to remember a well respected person and a much loved fan.

For me, there is one moment that says it all. When Firmani scored that last gasp winner against Parma, the ultimate expression of lazialità was there for all to see. A truly emotional occasion got its defining moment and that goal, that image, that moment will remain in my memory until the day I die. That ball crossing that line should have sent a clear message to the soccer world; Lazio is a way of life but life is precious. Today’s events brought it all back to me.

Gabriele Uno Di Noi! Forza Lazio.

Rosina? No, I’ve nothing concrete on him.

Lugano? The rumour is someone from the club has met with his agent but Lugano has previously said there is no chance he will join Lazio. If I had to guess, I would say Diego is fuelling the speculation to squeeze more money out of Fenerbahce.

Julio Cruz is on the verge of signing for us. That’s the most likely rumour at present.
