Ipsa Facto
By: cathal | November 7th, 2009It might not be the most exciting of rumours and perhaps not the most convincing either but in recent days, there has been much speculation that Lazio are chasing 23 year-old Kristijan Ipsa; a Croatian centre-back who currently plays for Danish side, FC Midtjylland. I’d be lying if I said I knew this guy like the back of my hand but having checked out his credentials, he is certainly an intriguing prospect.

After missing out on Bengtsson over the summer, it is no surprise that we are being linked to another young and hot prospect in Scandinavia. There is a firm media belief that Ballardini is searching for the next Kjaer and on first glance, Kristijan fits the bill. In terms of stature, he is around the same height as Radu and you begin to wonder if we would look to pair them together. His career is actually fairly impressive considering his age; as a teenager, he broke into the Varteks side which he followed up with a short stint with Cottbus in Germany before moving to the formidable Danish side. He has a significant number of underage national caps too so I don’t think his talent can be denied. As always, the big question marks will surround his compatibility for Serie A but Croatians and Scandinavians have always done well in Italy so I can’t see any particular reason as to why a Croatian with experience in Scandinavia would fail. He definitely looks to be one for the future; it’s just a question of how keen we are and if we have the capabilities to seal the deal.

As a fan of calculated risks, I’m all for this one but whether or not he could be the top notch centre-back we are all hoping for remains to be seen. Forza Lazio!

Haven’t they realised that we need an experienced CB of quality???
We already have Radu and Diakite’, two promising but inconsistent young talents.
We need an established player and to get one of them, the chequebook needs to be opened. Until that day comes, Lazio will continue to struggle at the back.

I think this chap has a lot going for him but it’s one for the future, right?
We do need an experienced centre-back but if Ipsa turns out to be Siviglia’s long-term replacement per se, then I have no qualms. However, we need that leader in defence; there’s no escaping that.

Fire everyone. The whole team played without any spirit until we scored a lucky goal. Than all of a sudden we came on hoping & praying for a 2nd goal.
Please, please bring in anyone but Sinisa. He is not a coach for this club. his temperment will not work in Rome. He will be tossed out more that his players. We need someoe with some seniority that can instill some confidence and deflect all the bullshit away from the players. Unfortuantely the pickings are not great. the best guy got away to Napoli but there are some interesting potentials….but not Sinisa!!

well, this ipsa guy seems interesting, but what about the rumors i’ve heard that aimar and van der vaart would come on a loan in january?
oh, and as for until now, maybe I found out why balls-ardini puts continuously barbonio: he has OVERLOOKED meghni(a second choice player, cuz the first choice is ledesma) and put a third choice guy, like meghni was transparent. still, even though we lost against milan, I was satisfied with the game of the second half!Posted from

Anyone know where I can buy the winter jacket that Ballardini was wearing today?

Haaaaa your still on a media ban and lose to milan and ya won’t sack ballardini and now your gonna be in a 10 day ‘ritiro’ this is too funny. When ya lose again you’ll ave to sack ballardini and when we play ya in the derby you will be managerless and be even more then usual 4 the taking this could be the mother of all thrashings!! Grazie Roma

mj, if we have the “ritiro”, as you say, you won’t even have a chance to beat us. your best player is… wait who was it again? de rossi? NOT EVEN COMPARED to zarate, nor kolarov! and what was that black guy’s name again? okaka? why do you riomanists have a fettish for players with dirty names? giuly, cicinho, and now even okaka! go get some money, you riomanista barbone.

@Mark M, I have that same question. I can never seem to find anything beyond the shirt. I would love this or any other Lazio jacket. I would wear it with pride even with the results we’re seeing.
