Kolarov Is King

Kolarov was the narrow winner of the derby poll that was run a couple of week’s ago. The sturdy left-back turned in a wonderful all-round display and finished the game off with a beautiful goal after running the length of the pitch. I must say, I agree with your decision and voted for him myself. The full results of the poll are as follows:

Aleksandar has impressed me immensely in recent games. I am not sure if he is just finding his regular form or if he has been working extra hard in training but whatever it is, the difference is notable. The more I see of him, the more I realise it is not just his defensive game that has improved; his attacking runs are decisive these days as well. Earlier in the season, he was getting caught out at the back frequently and his forward movements were regularly tracked. As of now, he seems to have the beating of defences and attackers are struggling to bypass him on the wing. In addition to this, I think he has got stronger and pacier. Speed is not something I associated with him previous to the last few months.

His game can still improve and he is not yet the finished article but his talent is there for all to see. In a matter of weeks, he has gone from a decent back-up to a player we have to keep. What I hope to see from him now is a curbing of his temper. He is prone to the silly booking or the ridiculous sending off but if he can gather his frustration and vent it in another way, we may have one hell of a player on our hands. The future looks bright. Keep up the good work Kola!
