Lazio – Cagliari
By: cathal | January 24th, 2009Lazio will line out in the Olimpico again this weekend as we welcome a spirited Cagliari side who are looking to avenge the heavy defeat we inflicted upon them on the opening day of the season. There’s no guarantees in football but I would be fairly sure we won’t see a repeat of the 4-1 scoreline of August.
Why? Cagliari have certainly tightened up and had Cagliari won that tie earlier in the season, they would be level with us in the league. We can’t afford to underestimate them and after our good form in recent weeks, it’s crucial we keep the results flowing. Rossi is confident that we are now on the right path but we will have to strive on tomorrow without the likes of Radu, Meghni and Siviglia. Mauri will step in for Mourad with Matuzalem returning to the bench. Presumably Kolarov will deputise for Stefan although there is always the possibility that Lichtsteiner will move to the left with De Silvestri on the right. As Sebastiano is low on match fitness, Rozehnal will move back into defence partnering Diakite whose physicality will be key against the Sardinians superstar, Acquafresca. Ledesma will be back in midfield and I would imagine the tridente will lead the attack.
As dangerous as Cagliari can be on their day, they are missing some key individuals, such as Cossu who is central to their play. However, there’s still Acquafresca and Biondini is decent in the midfield. Their goalkeeper, Marchetti has been massively impressive in all the games I have watched him in this season and there is definitely a unit there that will be difficult to breakdown. I would be amazed if we put four past them again but the gameplan will be to attack, we need to get at them early on or else they could shock us. If you don’t believe me, ask José Mourinho. Forza Lazio!

I’ll post a round-up of the game later and I’ll try and explain what went wrong and where we go from here.
It was a catastrophic loss, an epic fail on the team’s part and questions must be asked.

So long Lazio. Until next season when you might be able to start ahead of Roma. But we all know how that one ends with Roma on top at the end of the season.

Under Roma, things are back to normal. We cant have the second team from Rome on top of the first, its just not natural.

Well it’s just ridiculously funny, we are ahead of them for 19 matchdays and they get ahead of us for the first time in the season and they cue the abuse. Good luck to them in that Scudetto race they are so desperate to be in but are not.

We’re in no scudetto race, Cathal, and we’re perfectly aware of that.
It’s ridiculously funny how you guys were laughing at us when we were so low in the classifica. Now it’s our turn to laugh at you guys as you slowly trickle down the standings.
If you guys hadn’t bothered us, I definitely wouldn’t be here bothering you right now. Take the so-called “abuse” just like we had to put up with it for months.Posted from

the only think i can say about these.is that these motherfuckers are making history,i’can not belive this

Tony, I suggest you look at the “real” history of the abuse.
We indulged in some harmless propaganda pisstaking around derby time as you Riomanistas do too. However, we are not the ones who constantly go onto the oppositions blogs and drag ourselves into lame insults when we’re in no position to defend ourselves. We leave that to the Riomanistas and be my guest while I leave you and your fellow Riomanistas to enjoy this precious moment.
