Lazio – Reggina: Grazie Goran, Grazie Emilson
By: cathal | May 19th, 2009No point in talking about tomorrow’s game because right now, that is highly unimportant. It appears to be official; Pandev and Cribari are leaving Lazio this summer. This is a very sad day.
I don’t know about you guys but as any regular reader will know, these two chaps were among my favourite current squad members. On January 11th, 2009, I rounded up our game against Reggina with the title of my post saying all that needed to be said; Grazie Goran. On the eve of our rematch with the Calabrian side, I find myself using the exact same words as Goran prepares for his last hurrah. This is not a certainty but you will struggle to find any fan who has even a glimmer of hope for him remaining in the capital.
As for Emilson, I can’t believe his days with us are numbered. This is a person I respect enormously, a guy who desired to be our captain and wanted to be here for life only to see his dreams dashed following a spat with Delio Rossi. I understand the need for us to progress but surely losing big hearts and big souls is not the right way to go. Both Goran and Emilson had an obvious love for the club and to see that slip away is heartbreaking. I wish both of them all the best in the future and hope they do well at their new clubs. Regarding tomorrow, I’d safely say the game will become irrelevant as the Curva embraces Pandev in particular and due to the nature of the situation, I feel it’s unnecessary and somewhat disrespectful to discuss the game at this point in time. So, I’ll leave you with some bits and pieces to remember the two guys by. Grazie Goran, Grazie Emilson. We will miss you both. Forza Lazio!

Nice start alright.
Can’t watch this game, 2 exams tomorrow, colossal amount of study needed.
A good result will be the perfect boost.

He is def a Riomanista and has always said that he’s dream has been to manage Rioma…. some of us only have small ambitions in life!!

Great Goal by Zarate. We are playing well, keeping good possession and passing has been great. Well in control of this game although Pandev should of had at least 2 goals and Carrizo in goals makes me feel very insecure.
With Mendicino coming on and other Primavera players likely to probably follow, I can presume that we are not taking this game as seriously as we probably should. Let’s hope we can continue as we ended the 1st half.

I hope the fact that Tuia didn’t play today means that he will play against Juve next week (which is on May 31 which is also my birthday, great day for his debut).

I think GORAN is disappoint from all situation about him.
He will have some excellent moments,if Zarate is not selfish.Kids should be learning from him, about his behaviour. If Goran stays in SSLazio he will have an audence
in Pope, for sure. One boy is on the trip on bicycle from Macedonia to Vatikan,on respect of Mother Tereza(She was born in Macedonia),and the plan is The boy on bicycle and Goran Pandev to go on audence. But now,if he goes from Rome,…..Best wishes ,Forza LazioPosted from

“He is def a Riomanista and has always said that he’s dream has been to manage Rioma…. some of us only have small ambitions in life!!”
i take everything Ranieri says with a pinch of salt. At Valencia, he bought nothing but laziali…
As for tonight, great win, cheers for the ratings Franco, I’ll get a round-up done sometime tomorrow once I’ve cracked these exams.

My player ratings:
Carrizo – 6.5 dodgy but made one particularly good save
De Silvestri – 7 good attacking still needs to improve his defence
Diakite – 6 decent game but made some bad challenges
Rosenhal – 6.5 didn’t notice anything especially bad or good
Kolarov – 7.5 played a good game, a player we need to hold onto in the future
Lichtstiener – 7 played a good game, i enjoy having lollo and licht on the right side of the field
Dabo – 7.5 played a good game, got the assist, only complaint was i noticed him giving away possession a few times too many
Ledesma – 7.5 solid as ever in the middle
Foggia – 7 played really well, showed great control on occasions
Pandev – 6 missed some chances, not a good game for him
Zarate – 7 apart from his goal he drifted in and out of the game
Mendicino – 6.5 had one chance blocked, didn’t make as much of an influence as he may have hoped
Meghni – 7 i think this performance showed he is made to play as more of an attacking mid, he did well linking up passes to the forwards but didn’t do as well when tracking back
Kozak – 6 didn’t have a great influence on the game
positive performance but we weren’t playing as if it was and important game

Ranieri is indeed a Riomanista…shoulda warned us he’d choke from the get-go.
I will pay everyone on this blog money if Juve sign Pandev. Not gonna happen.

Ranieri is a Riommanista guys, maybe not a massive one, but a romanista is still a romanista.
That aside from him being an average coach anyway. I much prefer we keep Delio.

Looks like we are loosing a lot of important players for next season:Pandev,Cribari,Matuzalem,(Ledesma?)…This mercato is probably the most important in Lotito`s era.
I like the Iaquinta idea,if we must sell Pandev, because he is good with his head, and that`s what we missed this season.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that at this point in time it may be the right time for Lazio and Goran to part ways.
He’s a wonderful player who has given us wonderful service but like Cathal says he just doesn’t look like he’s enjoying himself. I may be way off but the last time I saw him play anywhere near his best was against Real Madrid in the Champions League at Olimpico…he was amazing that night.
His value will only continue to fall and he probably would enjoy a change of scenery, the other major issue is that in my opinion Zarate and Pandev are too similar and for me Zarate is the better player and more prolific scorer.
I would love to Iaquinta in a Lazio shirt as he would bring quality and a bit of variety in terms of personnel.
Other players that I’d love to see come to Rome is Giovanni Dos Santos the young Mexican at Tottenham who came through the Barcelona ranks and Elano from Man City.
Also if we are chatting about coaches….what about the one and only Sven Goran Erikson who has recently been made unemployed???

Iaquinta isn’t going to Lazio….he won’t leave Juve but on the outside shot he did, he’d be going (no offense) to somewhere with a bit higher ambition.

I’m a little bit disappointed that some of our primavera players weren’t given more of a chance this season, particularly if it’s going to be hard to keep Matuzalem, Ledesma and Pandev. It would have been nice to see if guys like Mancini, Mendicino and Kozak could have taken up some of the slack. Same goes for Tuia and Faraoni on D.

Ok,let it be.Maybe Goran is on leavig, maybe his manager has an influensein this situation.Because he is maybe not pay well, like other players.Brother for brother, but cheese for money.Forza Lazio…Left-handed GORAN greatness!

well about matuzalem i’m not so sure because zarogza dont have the money so they will try to sell to us for as much as they can get and i’dont think lotito will give more then 6-7 mil. so will see if zaragoze stay in seria b then 80% are the chances that we are going to get him

These are all issues I’ll discuss in the coming days. I’ll have two posts for you tomorrow; right now, I’m so sleep deprived it’s beyond believable.
I hope to look back on the season a bit in the next few days as well. It’s been an incredible season in so many senses and one that will live long in my memory for sure.

Hey Cath, any idea on where I can get my hands on one of those “zero tittoli” coppa Italia t-shirts???

Carrizo deserves a higher rating than a 6.5, i’d say a 7, he made 2 world class saves which gaves us the 3 points.

yes he did make a couple of very good saves, but i dont approve the tricks he used against one of the strikers and also i noticed a few other things that he didn’t get right

@ Franco: Yes. You can get the “Zero Titoli” t-shirt at Original Fans, Via Farini, Rome. Now, not sure you can order these online, I’d say you would have to go to the actual shop in Rome and purchase there. So, if you know anyone who is off to Rome soon, get them to fetch you one. The cost is 20 euro.
Alternatively, you can download the picture, print it out and take it to a printing shop and make your own t-shirt. Or, get t-shirt transferable paper, print the image onto that and iron it on to a plain t-shirt.
There are also some other Coppa t-shirts in Lazio Style, Via Calderini and they would cost 10-15 euro. Again though, you would probably have to go to Rome to get them.
If I find someone who is making them and selling them online, I’ll let you know. If you want the image to make your own, I can send that to you as well.

Not again!!! At least sell him to a non-Italian club….. I’m scared we’ll have to start from scratch if Kolarov, and De Silvestri also leave….
