Make Way Makinwa
By: cathal | January 23rd, 2009Makinwa has finally departed Lazio, at least for the timebeing as he has left to begin new adventures with relegation strugglers, Chievo. The minnows have snapped up Stephen on loan. These negotiations have been troublesome along the way with some conflicting reports on what Lotito wanted to do with Makinwa. Some mediums have suggested that Claudio wanted more cash than he could get for the Nigerian, others say Claudio still values him. Personally, I feel that Lotito would have sold if the price was right but he probably didn’t get an offer to the sum he wanted so I am guessing he settled for a loan. I know there are many who want to see the back of Makinwa permanently but there’s no harm in a short-term loan. If Stephen goes on to have a stormer in Verona, who knows, we may want him back.
It was always maintained that new acquisitions would only be made to replace sold individuals and it seems a signing may be on the horizon. Gaston Cellerino is believed to be on the verge of a loan deal with a buy out clause of 2-3 million euro. There are some sites reporting that the deal is done but I have found nothing official as yet and after the Amoruso saga, I wouldn’t get too excited yet. However, it’s difficult not to if you have been checking the kid out in videos like this and this. Keep in mind that he is playing in a relatively poor league but he certainly looks to be a talent. In saying that, I did have to resort to the Chilean version of Google to find a decent image of him.
There’s a lot of speculation flying around at the minute, most of it coming from unreliable sources. I’m half expecting to see Inzaghi leave now too as Cellerino could be seen as the replacement for both our fringe forwards. All our forwards have been linked with moves away this mercato and thus everything is all up in the air. If you have heard a rumour you feel could be important, point it out and we can discuss it in the comments box. Preview tomorrow.

Some comments about Cellerino having seen the first video clip.
1) He has the physique of Casiraghi (though taller)
2) He looks Inzaghi-like in his goal poaching ability
3) He is a first class diver (i.e. cheat) see 7min 8 sec on the first video clipInteresting addition – i think he would do really well.

Is Mudingayi suppose to be in that picture or did you confuse Makinwa and Mudi ?

Haha, apologies for that, my mistake.
My soundcard and videocard is not functioning properly so I’m having to rely on web descriptions to get accurate pictures. Unfortunately, it seems that when you google “Makinwa”, you get an image of Mudingayi with a description saying it’s Makinwa.
To be honest, I’m still not sure if it’s Maki or Mudi. All I can see with my graphics card is the number 26, which means it could be either of them but I trust your eyesight G.

Livorno offered to sign Cellerino permanently and because of that, Lotito lost out.
The mercato is probably over now for us but we shall see.
