New Day, New Speculation
By: cathal | July 2nd, 2009I wake up every morning to find a new name or two enter the fray and today was no exception. The latest players to be linked with us are Ricardo Oliveira of Real Betis and Nicola Pozzi of Empoli. Both are very different players and admittedly, the latter intrigues me much more than the former.

Ricardo would be as useful to us as a box of rusty nails as far as I can see. He had a short spell in Italy already with AC Milan and he didn’t adapt well. To think things would be any different this time is foolish in my opinion. His current club re-signed him, viewing him as the saviour and solution to their relegation dogfight. That turned out excellently when they were relegated on the final day of the season. At 29 years of age, I see no long-term value in him either. Taking all this into consideration, I hope this rumour is very, very false.

As for Nicola, he fired Empoli to the UEFA Cup a few seasons at a very young age. In fact, if I remember correctly, he risked losing the power in one of his fingers to continue playing for them in that highly successful season. The following year, he got injured and they got relegated. However, if he can stay fit and healthy, he could be a fantastic acquisition for us. We have a decent relationship with the club having purchased a certain Tommaso Rocchi from them a few seasons ago and they are quoting their young talent at 10million. It’s a gamble at that price but one that could pay dividends. However, there could well be a catch; they have spoke softly of Kozak and Mendicino. I assume they are talking permanence too. Hopefully we can negotiate on this one. Forza Lazio!

Oliveira I wouldn’t even consider.
At that price, I wouldn’t consider Pozzi either. 10 million is too much for a Serie B striker when for that price we could land Marcus Berg or even Robert Acquafresca. And to give away Kozak and/or Mendicino on permanent deals would be plain stupid. A lesser price though, and I’d say “Lotito sign him up”.

Any word on selling Rocchi? I think it is time that we get whatever we can for Balboa.

Mendicino? Are they crazy?? He is a hot prospect!! We have already lost De Silvestri!!! Why not just take Zarate and Foggia too whilst your at it. This is bullshit.

If Pozzi turned in another season as he did in 2006/2007, Berg and Acquafresca wouldn’t even be discussed. For 10million, he is a steal if he can rediscover that form. IF! That’s the risk…
As for Rocchi, he is considered indispensible by the club but Lotito hinted yesterday that everyone has their price and we know Napoli are keen. It will be interesting to see if they make an offer any time in the near future.

I’m going to be absent for a day or two guys. Other matters to attend to. Nothing serious though.
I’ll review everything on Sunday or Monday. In the meantime, keep the discussion flowing.
There’s nothing overly new to report. However, there is speculation that Ledemsa will stay if he is not sold within the week. With this in mind, I expect next week to be quite hectic and so I’ll probably throw in two posts on certain days.

Franko, you are a fag. We’d better not sign any Belgians because they are probably one of the least talented footballing country ever (with the exception of Enzo scifo, who was actually Italian). We should sign Berg, and not even consider Pozzi. I don’t think he can deliver again for a serie a team, and would be a waste of 10 million euros. FORZA LAZIO!!!! Oh, and Franko, 7-1. United!!!!

Hmm, seems Lazio could be on the verge of signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Chilean defender Arturo Vidal.
Make no mistake, this would be a massive coup!!

Ohhhh I am getting really excited about the new season.
Don’t know why cause we have only one or two new names, but i suppose the new boss might have the ability to make everybody else seem new!But maybe the name of Rosina being linked with us is getting my heart racing too (channel4.com)!
Go on the ladz.
