News Scraps
By: cathal | October 12th, 2008Hurrah! After a week of Lazio news starvation I declare the famine over. Well, at least for today. I went hunting and I managed to find a few bits and pieces to keep us interested. I will start with the bad news.

As I reported earlier in the week, Meghni is injured and could be out for a while and now Matuzalem has pulled up with a calf problem in a training game (more on that later). It is not yet known how severe the injury is but he is certainly doubtful for the Bologna tie. This leaves us looking wafer thin in midfield. However, it seems we are looking to address that issue in January.
We all know that Fernandez is still very much in our sights and Cabaye is a realistic candidate for a transfer too but new names are beginning to emerge now. One of these names is Matias Delgado of Besiktas. He is an excellent individual but why we would need him I don’t know. Delgado is an attack minded midfielder who can shoot, pass and hit set pieces well. We have all those qualities in Foggia, Pandev and Zarate so the Delgado rumour is a little out there. Perhaps a more sensible bet would be Migliaccio. It seems the Palermo holding midfielder is attracting our interest. However, with ongoing speculation regarding the future of Ledesma, I suspect Giulio is just another one for the list but who knows, perhaps he is our man. A bit of this kind of treatment on Totti wouldn’t go amiss:

Now the good news. Rocchi returned to action this weekend in one of those morale boosting friendlies against Atletico Triveneto (me either). Take a look at the photographs which can be found here and here. As you would expect, our attack had a field day putting nine past the opposition. The biggest surprise of all was that Makinwa bagged himself a hat trick. It’s just a shame we don’t play the likes of Triveneto every week. All joking aside though, it seems Stephen may have (somehow) done enough to earn a move to Bologna. Given the amount of money they splashed out on Mudingayi, I am rubbing my hands together with excitement but good luck to them if they think Makinwa is the man to address their goalscoring problem. Lotito should broker the deal and run before they realise they’ve been robbed. Stephen’s time at Lazio has been a painful experience for fans and player alike.

It’s not uncommon for players to sign new contracts and then move on shortly afterwards. Not saying this is the case here, in fact, I’m inclined to agree with you, I think this is all a bit made up but you never ever know with football.

well henry signed a contract with arsenal and after that he left to barca so maybe this is the same thing, honestly i dont know one of this players(i didnt pay atention on them) the palermo player will be good because he is italian but fernandez or cabaye will be also good bacuse the are young about delgado i’m sure he is good as you said cathal but we dont need attacking midfielder so probly thats give us the other 3 options
p.s. and for god sake please sell makinwa it will be best for all of us

I’d rather you not take Migliaccio from us, but you can have another bald, defensive midfielder. His name is Roberto Guana and he’s just as good, I swear!
P.S. Guana is about as effective on the field as a barrel of toxic waste.

We have been linked to Guana in the past, to be honest, he’s not as bad as Palermo fans make out. I’d be happy with Guana. He’s a very decent individual. Migliaccio is ok, but Guana would be my preference.
