No Surprises

I can’t say I’m surprised that we were on the receiving end of what was a 3-1 stroll for Sampdoria. After the shenanigans that occurred in Formello, it was very difficult for me to believe that the team would bounce back immediately. With Milan on the horizon, I’m afraid, very afraid.

The performance is ultimately immaterial; we needed to secure some points in order to silence the critics and we failed to do so. Of course, some of us will go looking for scapegoats; it’s Rossi’s fault, the players are mercenaries, Lotito’s a prick, Tare is the bogeyman and countless other theories will emerge. The fact of the matter is we will be none the wiser. We can infer all we like and those in and around Rome can pay the team a little visit but in the end it’s going to get us nowhere on the pitch. Sure, we will be showing our love and respect for the club through our dissatisfaction but in all honesty, it would be like going to work with a smile on your face only to have it crapped on by your boss. Absolutely no satisfaction to be gained from it whatsoever.

Next up; Milan. I’m tempted to give that one a miss already, our record against them is disastrous, we’ve already beaten them this season and that tends to come around once every fifteen years and it’s a must win game for them if they want to stay in the title race. Fantastic news. Apologies for the sarcastic undertones and the general feeling of disappointment but that’s about all I can muster right now. When they’re available and when I am less depressed, I will conjure up some highlights and pictures for you and maybe even some media reaction.
