Player Of The Season: The Results

By: cathal | June 16th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, I asked you to vote for your Player of the Season and as many would have predicted and expected, it was a landslide victory for a certain Maurito Zarate. He was the common choice but not everybody’s choice so these are the final tallies:

Zarate60%
Lichtsteiner11%
Kolarov9%
Foggia6%
Muslera6%
Ledesma4%
Carrizo2%
Pandev2%

Apart from JP who presumably made the list out of sympathy, all the above players deserve an honourable mention for their efforts. I think in general, we learned much about our squad and although few of these names will inevitably depart, I hope we have finally found a strong and committed base upon which we can build. There are a few guys in this squad who have plenty of heart and a true abundance of passion and if our new coach can work on this, we can soar. However, at present there is much work to be done and I hope to see progress in the coming days. In the meantime, congratulations Mauro and keep up the good work next season.

I’ll be back later with all the thrills and spills of Ballardini’s press conference. If you know very little about the guy, I will also tell you what you can expect as I have done my research. Forza Lazio!

    Two things:

Strong rumour that Napoli have offered 12 million + Rinaudo/Bogliacino or both for Pandev. I find it hard to believe but it’s a great offer if it’s true.

Those strips are now official. The ones we hated. Great news :(

That would be a great deal. I think Rinaudo would be the more useful o the two although Ledesma is leaving too.
I just really hope Firmani comes back and gets played with Ballardini as coach now. By the looks of some compilations of Fabietto, he has been playing well in Al-Wasl although I know it is completely different from Italy.

the ones with the eagle around the neck?

i must admit i don’t mind it at all, but i know some of my friends are going to take the piss coz it’s quite, umm, ‘unique’. i might even buy it. but i’ll never wear it coz the 08/09 strip is the most stylish kit ever (apart from Italia 2002 of course)
