Should Rossi Be Sacked?

By: cathal | February 15th, 2009

Over the coming days and weeks I intend to change a few aspects of the blog, hopefully for the better. I now have more free time than ever on my hands and thus I am trying to think of ways of improving the blog. I plan to post daily from now on; this makes it easier for you to know when to check the blog because if there’s a post each day, then you can check once a day and read up on all the latest news. I hope to make small amendments to the Previews and Results posts. In the previews, I want to include links to a stream somewhere in the post and also give some additional information on the background of each tie. With the result round-ups, I want to provide as much information as possible taking the highlights and pictures that are currently posted and adding some reaction from president, coach and players to the recaps. If there’s any other features you think would improve the blog or anything you think is lacking and would like to see then leave a comment on this post and I will give it consideration.

Another feature I plan to implement regularly, starting from today, is a weekly poll. I always feel that the day after a game is a day where there is very little to report on. For this reason, I hope to make Monday poll-day. Here’s how I intend to run it:

I will create a poll on a poll-creator website outside of this blog. All polls will open on a Monday and will run for seven days. Each Monday, I will reveal the results of the previous week’s poll and give some feedback on the results. The link to the poll will only be publicised on this blog/website which means only you who read these blogs will be reflected in the results. In order to make the polls fair and accurate, you will only be able to vote once and only one vote will be registered off each computer and IP address.

Of course, in order to make this work we need a suitable amount of voters so if you have the time, just click the link and vote. It will only take 10 seconds maximum.

To get you started, I will post the first poll today (I know it’s Sunday but it will be Monday from now on). The question is simple: If you had the power, would you sack Rossi? Click here to register your vote. Choose wisely!

hiya cathal, all of those improvements sound great. They will make this blog even better then it already is. When i was reading i was hoping you were going to say you would start making polls and then you did haha. There is one thing i would like to ask you for though, player ratings in matches. goal.com used to always have player ratings for our games but they seem to have stopped and i thought they were always good, so if you would like to i think that it would also be another good addition to the blog

    Good God YES!

First of all Hi everyone! It has been a while since I left a comment, but don’t worry I read the blog almost every day.

I simply had it!The man is a f…ing idiot! We didn’t have squad like this for years and he can’t even stay in the top 10?Yes he did have some good moves like binging us a CL,but he simply isn’t the guy for the big teams. He would be great for Siena of somebody like that but not for us.As soon as we start talking about Europe he blows it,Jesus he was last in the group stage of the CL and I can’t remember when we did something to be proud of in UC.

All in all we can only hope that Juve won’t play with their first team in Coppa semi-finals,because I don’t think that Lotitto will let Delio go,don’t know why but he is loving that guy.

Lotito should sack Rossi,Lazio is at the eleven position at the table and is hart to say that Rossi will bring lazio in the uefa cup for this season,it is the same think like in the last season 2007-2008 when Lazio finish at the twelfth position at the table but last season Lazio was playing in the champions league and this could be the excuse For Rossi for last season, and what about this season there is no excuse for Rossi Lazio are not playing in champions league and there are focus only at seria A,and they are not even at the first ten at the table, now even the Lazio strikers Pandev,Zarate,Rocchi can’t score goals for six or seven games, and for Zarate I can’t remember when is the last time when Mauro score goal for lazio I guess it is against Milan three month ago from penalty in coppa Italia.

Hate to be the black sheep here but I personally don’t think that Rossi should be sacked. I agree with you all that we should be doing better and sitting higher on the table then what we currently are however I don’t think it is good for the team to change so many aspects (tatics, training, formation, starting line-up ect) so late or in between a season.

I say leave things as is, give Rossi a fair go (after all the season is not over yet) and see what happens. If we finish anywhere after 7-8th then Yes, he should be sacked before the start of 2009/10 season. Also bear in mind how well he was doing at the start of the season – the potential is there.

    Forza Lazio.

@ Aldo: I will look into introducing player ratings. It is something I want to do but the challenge is trying to bring all these features into the result round-ups and prevent the posts from looking messy. That could also slow down loading times for some people but I will try and come up with an efficient way of doing that.

The poll is too close to call at the minute so vote if you haven’t already and make your voice heard. I can understand everyone’s opinion on Rossi, it is difficult to know what would be the right or wrong call.

Cathal. it seems you are sitting on the political fence. I hope you’re voting too!

I back Franco and am happy to keep Rossi. Angelo, Luka and Jimmy all have a point about Rossi’s credentials at the top flight of Serie A – but i think he can do it.

IF we sack Rossi, it should be during the summer and NOT now. And we should have a creditable replacement planned in advance. So now is not the time.

    Forza Rossi!
