The Mega-Post

By: cathal | April 10th, 2009

I was highly sleep deprived when I conjured the idea of a “mega-post” in my head. This is not quite a “mega-post” but seeing as we are getting the usual Merda audience, I thought I would use this post to good effect. Tomorrow is the game of the season and it’s important to make our voice heard prior to engagement in the fundamentals.

As the blogger of the Lazio Offside, I have a duty to check out the opposition’s Offside prior to the derby and I have to say I’m impressed. I admire the resolve we have to disengage ourselves from leaving provocative posts on their blog. It’s much more fun to see a bunch of guys use their blog to discuss games that are completely unrelated to their own team. Let them come over here and taunt us, remember that they have no entertainment over at their home base with a blog that is updated infrequently and full of pretenders. If you want to know what makes us laziali, this blog is the perfect reminder. We stand united and that’s how it is.

The press silence imposed on our squad is a bummer for the tifosi. We have no idea of what’s going on and this only increases the tension. Nevertheless, we fans have to remain optimistic. We have a chance of ruining one team’s season and putting ourselves on the right track. We have the potential to pick up some silverware before the season ends. We have the opportunity to get the fans singing ever-louder in the stands. All this rides on one game and if you’re disheartened by recent performances like I am, don’t be. The emotion that comes along with this derby overrides the deepest of pains. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

When hopes and dreams are shattered, new ambitions emerge and we perform best when we’re labelled as underdogs. Don’t believe me? Watch these clips and you will realise that we come good when we stare adversity in the eye. There will be no set preview as I plan to do my first ever liveblog tomorrow. Information will be unveiled in the hours directly before the game and for those of you who will miss the game, there will be an in depth commentary right here (providing a stream holds up). Forza Lazio!
