Too Friendly
By: cathal | July 26th, 2009Lazio played two friendlies over the weekend against vastly different opposition. On the Saturday, the side took on the more competitive Triestina while on the Sunday morning, much of the back-up squad faced Spal Cordovado. The gulf in quality can be found in the respective scorelines; 2-2 and 13-0. Nevertheless, it’s always good to get some match practice under the belt and the preparations for Beijing and the new season are coming to a close.
The major revelation of today was the news that Pandev looks set to stay in Rome. Many fans are now speculating that he will sign a new contract and the media are hinting that he has pledged his future to the club but from what I have read, he is simply trying to mend the broken relationship he has with the club on the offchance that he stays. I could be wrong but I don’t see this as a long-term commitment on his part. I guess we are in the dark, as we have been all summer but his participation or non-participation in the Supercoppa will be a major indicator.
That game is now only two weeks away and it seems we have secured a sponsorship deal with Del Tongo for that game. I am not sure what kind of company they are; I believe it has something to do with kitchens but if you are hoping to see a regular sponsor this season, the signs are optimistic. I heard a rumour that some marketing guy at the club thought we were likely to have a season-long sponsor and I believe Del Tongo have been linked with a long-term deal in the past too, so perhaps it is on the cards. We will have to wait and see but keep them fingers crossed; we could do with a boost to our finances. Forza Lazio!

Why does everyone hate on Pandev? I wish he would either completely commit to us or leave but that still does make me want to wish him such ill will. He has played well for us over the years.

i think he shoudl sign a new contract with a buy out clause. i think that would be best for the club and pandev.
