Two Heartwarming
By: cathal | August 11th, 2009That’s some killer controversy in the comments section. I think the pre-season got to us all and I believe the excitement of the Supercoppa triumph has further intensified our emotions. What better way to diffuse the situation than to provide two heartwarming images to remind us of what those on the outside can do for our club.
The first image is from a bunch of Chinese laziali. The language barrier and the difference in their alphabet and our alphabet is an obvious communication problem but you have to admit that this banner was an excellent effort; unfortunately, for us who are more used to the english alphabet, this is ridiculously funny. Nevertheless, the attempt is heartwarming.

In a roundabout sort of way, that brings me onto the results of last week’s poll. I asked you if you supported the initiative to take the Supercoppa abroad or if you would prefer to keep the cup in Italy at all times. I hinted earlier in the week that it would be close and in fact, I’m going to call it a draw but for all you sticklers for figures out there, here are the percentages:
Home – 48%
Away – 52%
I’m going to give the poll a break this week as I currently review the entire process but I would like to leave you with a brief comment on a rather topical issue. The Lazio/Inter ‘friendship’ has been under huge scrutiny in the comments section in light of the Supercoppa finale. Although there is a said friendship between the two sides, it is not a twinning and thus not something that we necessarily adhere to. However, I would like to leave you with this image, taken from our last game with Inter at the San Siro. While I will never proclaim to be a massive fan of the club, I will say I respect them and the majority of their fans for reasons that this poignant picture makes known. Forza Lazio! Gabriele: sarai sempre con noi.

in my opinion i think that the fans would prefer inter more than juve(including me too) and what franco was saying to omar was not right at all
first.cuz he know what omar meant about the pictures of the girls and second he was on the side of the juve fan and saying that maybe omar was a rioma fan. not right by the guy who post stuff on this blog-not at allbtw i’m big fan of franco and i agree with him with lots of tings but not about this one

Guys, we are each entitled to our own opinions and I don’t expect you all to agree with everything I say or write, hence the reason why the blogs have a comments page. I do however agree with what biancoblv has said in that there is ONLY Lazio as I feel the same but in saying that we still must show respect to our opponents…. Unless of course our opponent is Rioma, then I don’t believe respect to such scum is necessary. Respecting an opponent doesn’t mean that you support them!
Forza Lazio x Sempre!

Inter-Lazio is a twinning, between the hardcore supporter bases.
and that “AS LOMA MELDA”, I thought was made by Italians travelling to China mocking the Asian accent. The banners surrounding it are all regulars in the Curva Nord.

The Lazio fan-base has been close with supporter groups of Inter, Liverpool and Espanyol. The support/appreciation of another supporter group just shows the respect and admiration they have for another club and the tradition surrounding it. Being close with these kind of teams is a huge compliment and only shows that Lazio is a maginificent club.
Any news on transfers btw (preferably midfielders)?

@ Cristiano: intresting banner theory; you could be right so I’ll look into it.
@ Gino: Lugano claims he will sign for his new club on Sunday, as Franco pointed out earlier. As for midfielders, Simplicio is the big news, those talks I mentioned in a previous blog were held over the weekend and it appears that Simplicio will not renenw his contract for Palermo which allows us to swoop in. As for the dissidenti, I expect them to all leave soon as none of them have made the Europa League squad which is a clear signal of our intent.

Regarding Lollo / Pandev / Ledesma – it would be poor business to sell them at this point. Where is our leverage if the opposing side know our hand is forced to sell?

Oh yeah the Chinese promoter was pretty angry btw. He claimed that the Italian players acted like ” a bunch of stuck up divas” and also drank a couple of thousand euros worth of wine.

@ Stephen: that’s way no club wants to pay the price lotito is asking. They can get them for free in the winter for the next season or for a much lower price in the winter mercato. Lotito is going to lose this one.

Are all three out of contract next summer? What are we asking for each now?
