Not quite, some “briefs” to be exact.

Lazio have made their first signing of the mercato. Some Swiss kid, Pajtim Kasami will now join forces with our Primavera squad. I know absolutely nothing about him and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Says here he is a midfielder and he sounds promising enough. Hardly Elano though, is it?

As for Elano, Manchester City boss, Mark Hughes has stated his desire to sign a new midfielder in this transfer window. Of course the media have jumped on the bandwagon and are now saying a move to Lazio is about to happen. The deal? A six month loan with a fixed price of six million euro. Does this smell a bit fishy to anyone else? Six million euro to permanently secure a regular in the Brazilian international team. I’m not buying that one (excuse the pun).

Our first “proper” signing could be Dubarbier (no disrespect to Kasami, but I don’t expect to be chanting his name anytime soon). The president of Cluj has said that talks are at an advanced stage, however Sebastian’s agent claims that it may be difficult for us to land him this month. The price is about six million euro but we may be able to get it down to something closer to four. Anyway, that is the clearest indication yet to anybody coming in at the club.

The Makinwa saga thickens. We all thought Chievo were close, I personally thought West Ham were frontrunners but the latest is that Bologna are winning the chase (yeah, I know, there’s a “chase” for Makinwa, hard to believe). I am very dubious about this news as Bologna look set to land Corradi and with Di Vaio already banging them in for Mihajlovic, would Stephen be willing to occupy a place on their bench? I guess Reggina won’t be too willing to sell Bernardo off to fellow relegation strugglers so Makinwa to Bologna is probably feasible.

Ledesma’s agent is claiming that Cristian can move to Fiorentina under Article 17 but not through FIFA legislation. Apparently there’s a “gentleman’s agreement” between Italian clubs. Anybody out there have the balls to tell D’Ippolito that (a) Lotito is not much of a gentleman and (b) he’s not very agreeable either. My suggestion to Mr. Agent is for him to go to the Viola and bring us back a nice bag of cash, a bag of cash big enough to make Claudio a very agreeable gentleman. Now that’s the kind of President I’d like.

I’d like to post about something other than transfer speculation tomorrow. I’ll figure something out.

this gentlemans agreement would mean that fiorentina would get ledesma for free??? why would any presedent agree to that if the player is gonna leave using article 17 then why would they not jts let him leave the country…thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard

Is it just me or is Ladesma and his agent getting under their skin too?? I am so sick and tired of hearing his big mouth agent swap and change on what Ladesma will be doing in his career. One day we hear that he is happy at Lazio and the next he is on his way to the Viola?? What gives??

IMO Sell the traitor and buy Elano instead…. Get Veron in as well and we’ll be in better shape then ever with the midfield. Then all we’ll need to do is buy a decent defender!! Unfortunately there is no talk or speculation of us buying one which is rather worrying.

Ledesma and his agent have caused problems since the summer of 2007.

Problem is he is so important to the team in that role he plays which often goes unnoticed tht we cant afford to lose him without a quality replacement.

Quality players in that regista role are the hardest to come by in my opinion

Yeah c.testa, that’s exactly it. Arguably he is the most important player we have and Rossi knows it. If we sell Ledesma we have to redefine our whole team. It’s like Inter having to play without Cambiasso, Liverpool without Gerrard, Barcelona without Xavi. I can’t imagine any of those teams being half the same without those players and I can’t imagine this Lazio team without Ledesma. I think if he is to be sold, we have to find two midfielders to replace him and then go 4-4-2.

There is a distinct lack of information regarding Article 17, but Ledesma would be available for something around 900,000 euro. Now, if there is a loophole that says Ledesma can’t move to another Italian team then that means Lotito has the situation well under control. He can let this whole saga drag on to the summer but if it effects team performance and Ledesma’s form then that would be foolish. Less than a week ago it was reported that a renewal was on the cards, now he’s basically signed for Fiorentina. This is all to do with his agent and nothing to do with Ledesma himself. Cristian says nothing, that’s just his style and I try to not let his agent cast Ledesma in a bad light because effectively that’s what happening. I don’t want to see him go but Fiorentina is a very realistic possibility for him and for the first time in a long time, I’m starting to have doubts about him remaining at Lazio.
