What’s New?
By: cathal | January 15th, 2009Same old same old on the speculation front. Here’s a quick round-up of the latest rumours.
Cribari: Milan and Fiorentina are said to be after him but in the case of the Viola, they may offer Almiron in some kind of swap deal. Personally, I hope nothing happens on this front as I think Emilson is a very capable defender and perhaps more importantly, he loves our club.
Ledesma: His agent has been speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss about his client and has confirmed that everything remains up in the air and that Cristian’s future is uncertain. if they can’t sort it now, I think we should leave it to June as this talk will only become unsettling if it hasn’t already.
Makinwa: Chievo’s Sporting Director has denied that a deal is close to completion. The proposed deal seems to have been at a standstill for quite some time now and one has to wonder if it will ever go through. There needs to be some kind of compromise and soon.
Ayala: Apparently this deal may actually happen, much to my surprise. For months it has been the agent of Roberto that has been doing on all the talking but it looks like Lotito is partaking in negotiations. In all likelihood, Ayala will probably only arrive in Rome if Cribari makes way but it seems he is our back-up option.
Rodriguez: There is one new name to add to that very long list and you’ve guessed it, it’s another fella based in Argentina. On this occasion, it is Boca Juniors defender, Claudio Marcel Morel Rodriguez. Apparently he is on the move to Spain or Italy hence we have been linked with him. Complete rubbish I would think but anything is possible. You may have seen him line out for Paraguay, he has a good number of caps for them. Unfortunately, that means he is also no spring chicken and with no experience in Europe, that makes him a no-go for me.
I reckon it’s Lichtsteiner’s birthday tomorrow so there is a strong possibility that tomorrow’s post will have a Lichti theme to it.

I didn’t include that in the blog for a couple of reasons.
1. anybody I mentioned that too who watch SPL laughed at me
2. distinct lack of details about it and nothing from any uber-reliable sourceBut yeah, Kris Boyd of Rangers has been mentioned as a potential target. He’s a centre-forward, scores goals with ease (in SPL it must be said) but has a terrible attitude. Not Lotito’s kind of guy so I reckon it’s just media filler.

I’m not sure dubbing BOyd as having a ‘terrible attitude’ is entirely fair. Yes, his premature international retirement did seem immature and spoilt on his part, but he was just desperate to have some playing time and seeing 30-year old Chris Iwelumo picked ahead of him and missing an awful open goal must have hit a nerve. However, I have to say I laughed when I saw this rumour simply at the thought of a scotsman in serie a. I think we have a very strong international side but I don’t believe Boyd has nearly enough talent to make it in Italy.
